RELIGION???? BELIEF??? SYSTEM???

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RELIGIOUS INSTITUTIONS AND A BELIEF SYSTEM
THE MAIN DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE RELIGIOUS INSTITUTION AND THE BELIEF OF A SYSTEM, IS THAT ONE IS RELIGIOUS AND THE OTHER IS A SYSTEM AND YOU DONT HAVE TO BELIEVE OR FOLLOW A RELIGION TO BELIEVE OR MAKE PART OF IT. THE BELIEF SYSTEM IS CHARACTERISED BY THE PRECEPTS, BECAUSE WITHOUT THEM YOU COULD NOT ACT, THE PRECEPTS CONTROL YPUR THOGHTS AND ACTIONS, THE BELIEF SYSTEM IS A BELIEF, WELL OFF COURSE IT IS BUT IS BLACK OR WHITE IS NEVER GREY. YOU ARE OR YOURE NOT IS NOT A MAYBE.
ACTUALLY THERE ARE A LOT OF DIVERSE RELIGIOUS INSTITUTIONS ALL OVER THE WORLD, EACH CULTURE ADAPT ONE OR MORE AND TAKE IT AS A LIFE STYLE. IN OUR CASE IN COLOMBIA. THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IS THE ONES THAT GOVERNS ALMOST ALL COLOMBIANS RELIGIOUS BELIEFS, THEY BELIEVE IN THE CGURCH, IN GOD, IN THE VIRGIN , JESUS, THE POPE AND WHAT THEY MEAN AND REPRESENT ON EARTH(I MEAN THE CHURCH). A RELIGIOUS BELIEF IS A WAY OF LIFE OR LIFE STYLE, BECAUSE YOU FOLLOW CERTAIN ATTITUDES, ACTIVIES AND CHARACTERISTICAS AROUND IT, BECAUSE YOU BELIEVE ON IT AND YOU HAVE FAITH AND IN ALL RELIGIOUS FAITH IS THE MAIN PURPOSE IS THE CENTER OF THE IDEAS THEY TAUGHT.


VENEZUELA
Last class me and my graupo have the opportunity to present Venezuala realted with Leadership, first we gave a brief description of the general características of Venezuela  and then we start relating all cultural, politic, social or economic characteristics of Venezuela but including Leadership. We talk about the importante of a leader and define the Readers job and action within an organization a company or a goup of people, but when talking about Venezuela we can saw a lot of cultural similarities but in terms of politics and leaderships we act totally different. Venezuela is in a cage of socialismo with Hugo Chavez that is in charge of every single action or control for the country, right now their position is no the best, they are facing a hard time in theireconomy and their life as a country. The opposition is really amrked which shows how the head of the leader is follow with just have because the other have hate him, they dont even handle the idea of having him as a leader. Alter analising the venezuelas culture and Leadership there are important aspets and behaiviors that we mut follow when negotiating with them, even though are simir to us we must be prepared reacuse we can never forget that Venezueka is an important trade market, is our brothe and our neighbor.

blog presentations!!!

at this classs we talk about a very interesting topic, that can make us think how is oir position andi f we are thinking ina good or bad way.
Motivation is like the sense of life, is the motor of every action you make and every goal you want to achieve, you have to find a way to motivate your self but also a way to motivate others.
Within a company motivation is a key factor for succes, the motivation of the emloyeers is a way to give them reason to work properly for the company. Increasing the salary, a stretch relation where you recognized and name your employees and treat them with respect.


Argentina had been a country with a great influence from European country, so their actions are really similar, their motivations consists on a well presentation and well performace and attitude, in order for the negotiation have succes. Fashion and prsence is important for them, anf they are really sensible so if you dont study well their culture or protocol they would be ofended with you.



In this session of the class we also talk about organizacional learning, about how people within an organization or a company are raised. And they exponed russia
And for example in the case of rusia there is no existente at all of this organizacional learning and they dont have fath on it. Thats why making businees with a Russian company or organization is really complicates and there is not an Orly way that you Could follow in order to achieve succes in your negotiation and everyone manages different points of iew and ideas that are really difficult to predict. But for example as in every culture there are different characteristics depending on the Group of people . for example the old ones relieve that the mean justify the end which is contradictory to the youngers toughts which are more free but still dont have a defined or clear personality. But even though its difficukt to established a fresh relationship with a Russian, for them relationship are a priority befote doing Business. And you must follow a guide or the protocol and always participate and act Turing the meeting because if not youll not be taken seriously
The tirad presentation was about Vietnam’s work and ethics, and how this country is not pretty much ethical. Their have low sense of sensitivity and compasión and humidy for othersthe Rights of the workers are really poor with just Basic needs, minimun wage and less Rights than any other Yorker, they just have general Rights. The governement almost ignores the Yorker and doesnt care about them. So their quality of life and social conditions are really low. Basic needs as Elath are not well covered. The Orly thing that the government cares about is that the Yorker erans $1.6 a day that would cover ther Basic needs for them and their family. Which means that life conditions are really bad, and in almost everycases children has to work to help their family survive.
But talking about the culture’s protocols are really different from us and for example are not to stare at people while talking is  necessary to show respect, the more frigid you are is better, you have to be un expresive, becase if you move a lot they ll take it as violation of space which is a big offense.

And at last but not least the presentation of USA was presented, they focused on teamwork in the USA. And características as open mind, developed country and what they represent in the World makes USA an important country for s to focus on its cultures, economy or trade.
As they are really open minded, teamworks are really commited, they accept each other ideas easily than in other country, they are no really aware to risk and they all give the best and are full comitted with the team in order to create or aachieve a great job.
We must be really focused on USA market, so its really important to know which is the better way of making Business with them and how to achieve succes and efficiency in a negotiation

DOCUMENTARY

The North Korea documentary shows us a reality that changes completely our perception of North Korea in which we analized and differentiated from South Korea. And North Korea was over the top in development, ideologies, life style etc. But the Documentary shows us a complete different point of the life conditions these people have to phase.
The idea of a manager as a hero or a real leader is extremely respected, they have about 35.00 statues and pictures of him everywhere they go, he is like a God, they implore him.
Technology is not really accepted in the country, the governement must control every TV channel, their main objetive is to show how to recognized, love and respect their leader, and also remember him and think of him as a hero. The cell phones and the internet are also prohibited; they have no intentions to connect with the rest of the world. They don’t care about international relations, they are not interest in globalization the more they are apart from the world the better they are. There are only two flights to Russia and 2 for Peking once a week.
The governement controls everything. They have no voice, no identity, and no expression as individuals; they just act and live in a group, as a country. The government control all aspects including their behaves, and in case they don’t follow the way it should be, they said they would be sent to a reeducation schools, that where like hell for them.
Inequity is absolutely strong, wealth and poverty are two extremes, there is not like a middle classs, the people that are related with the government are very rich and their laws are different from the poor. For example ther is not permission to use cars they can only use bycicles, but the rich ones can use cars.
Militarization is extremely important, is almost a symbol for them. Everything everywhere all around the country is militarized, they said they must be aware and prepared for an attack. They think that American and South Koreas`s army would attack them.

For a tourist there are also many restrictions. If you want to go to North Korea you just can be there for 11 days, and in those days you must forget the technology, there are no cellphones allowed or internet use. If you need to send an e mail, they check it before you send it. And all your truip youre followed and guided by a guide from part of the government. But for American the condition is that they can only be in the country for 3-4 days. These reassures their feeling of hate for the americans, in which not only the government but also the citizen hate them thinking that americans were terrorist to say it in some way, because the shoe the pictures of americans torturing people, in the most cruel way.
Health is an issue that is really complicated and serious, during pregnancy moms are not able to have a balance diet, and this creates a negative effect on the baby that borns with nutrition problems. This problem is a whole cycle that has its begginings on the bad paid, and the governments’ inneficiency, and lack of food. This also creates a black market of selling food.

Immigrants; hostile reception is a concept that abroad four issues:
The 4 issues are
• social invisibility,
• political-economical
• legal abandonment
• Discrimination.
Ever since the world starts discovering and interacting for good or for bad the different cultures immigrants have exist for different reasons. And they have to face some facts and issues that affect them. Discrimination is one of the main issues they must face when entering a new territory they might have many disadvantages for being new and the social status, nationality are not yet defined and also the adaptation to this new culture and life style they have to take.
After having the discussion and sharing different points of view we saw 2 concepts:
Informal organizations: are illegal organizations that actually look for legal aspects;
Informality: operates in illegality but not with antisocial objectives (it has in mind legal goals). Some characteristics are that they don’t use complex technologies, not established work division, not legally constituted, many work relationships at the same time.

• high or low entry or exit barriers

• need for seasonability

• no control from the government

• no reinvestment

Other concepts that are are related to the above are informal workers that are very common today, and all this concepts can be turned into a social problem





Cultural Differences between South and North Korea

After an overwhelming war, Korea must stop being one piece and had to divide into South and North Korea;

Their capabilities, resources and opportunities are almost the same, but after this division this similarities had disappeared crating a difference between each other in which one part deals with high level of poverty and the other one is stable and developed. Their political views are opposite between one and another, North Korea is a communist country while South Korea is democratic. North Korea had trouble with their leader; they were stocked without evolution or development, with lower opportunities, due to the governmental limited control, and the consequences that a communism brought, and a wrong manage and control which lead north Koreas in the worst conditions that’s why many people in search of opportunities and a better life moved to North Korea.

There are many similarities between North and South Korea, they have the same roots, history many common traditions. But the political views separate them almost into two different poles, not only the internal aspects and lifestyle buut also the position in the world. North Korea has greater and notaries potential over South Korea.

CHINA..
The presentation of China was amazing what I love the most was when Chen went to our class, that was wonderful to know and understand the Chinese culture really closer and seeing a Chinese in Colombia is weird for my so it was great, the really big differences in both countries, he also gave us good tips to take into account not only making business but also cultural characteristics that are important to know.
Then they presented China And they really clarify and reconfirm my vision of China, it is an economic monster is a thread to all countries and is really a potency .they talk about education, demographics, religion, economy and main characteristics of China as a country. Then they talk about management and I found really interesting. “In China, management style tends towards the directive, with the senior manager giving instructions to their direct reports who in turn pass on the instructions down the line. It is not expected that subordinates will question the decisions of superiors - that would be to show disrespect and be the direct cause of loss of face (mianzi) for all concerned.” And finally they talk about the merging process in China that was what the presentation was really about they said Mergers and acquisitions in China offer some strategic benefits to the foreign investors, as well as the domestic investors. “One of the principal goals of the mergers and acquisitions in China is to gain knowledge and market share in the Chinese market.” And all the types, difficulties, and how Chinese manage this topic. At the end they gave us interesting tips to take into account when negotiation or just vacationing at china

Immigrants were the topic that we discussed last class, for me is one of the most interest topics to investigate and I found it really interesting since their history to nowadays. On June I went to New York and I had the opportunity to visit Ellis Island that was immigrants first stop in America, I learned a lot and after checking the topic at class I founded easily to understand what I saw there.
At think that at this point the concept of an immigrant must change, we are open and adapted to new ideas and cultures; we accept each other easily, so immigrants are not that complex as they used to be. I think that the restrictions must exist in order to protects the countries identity, traditions but we must recognized that we live in a globalized world and we must accept and integrate immigrants into our culture, and cooperate and work together for development and evolution. Immigrants are all over the world and someday I could be facing that same position, looking for more opportunities to open my world. And have the experience of living in another country, adapting to another culture that would also mean many personal changes for me.

August 25th

A manager have power inside the organization, but they can use that power in a succeful way or they can destroy the organization. Sometimes they can be seen as heroes inside the organization, they are heroes if they are wise and for many people they are never wrong, they can also be seen as immortals that can’t be touch inside the organization, there is also a sexy manager (for their money, status and success). A manager is in charge of controlling most of the movements inside the organization including permissions, extensions. But nowadays these perceptions are changing because organizations are becoming molecular.
Reflection: what is a manager in the modern organization?
Today everything is moving so fast globalization and the interaction of cultures have change the way the world moves and develops. One step back means you’re lost, many opportunities are presented but at the same time a high level of competition causes difficulties and higher challenges that you must face in order to success. The manager of today must be open mind, open to changes and new ideas must accept easily other cultures and also have the capacity to adapt. A manager of today must be a leader in every single aspect; he must represent the whole organization and have the capacity to confront all problems in the best way, not only for his own good, but for all members of the organization. A manager of today is not afraid of risks or challenges.
Presentations
1. Brazil:

At the brazil´s presentation they present the country characteristics and then they continue with the characteristics of a manager that where similar to the ones we saw at class. Then they explain the four more talk in management styles books: democratic, autocratic, and consultative and laissez faire. And then about the three management styles: participatory, team work, directing style. Then they talk about organizational culture and it different definition and characteristics especially at Brazil. And finally they gave us the tips and behaviors we must take into account when negotiating with a Brazilian. Some interesting tips where:
• The legal rules governing business in Brazil are basically laid down in federal legislation.
• However, the Constitution allows the Federal Government, the States and the Federal District to currently legislate on certain matters related to business activities.
• The Brazilian legal tender is the Real. Foreign investors must translate their foreign currency into Brazilian currency
• Brazilians find the habit of itemizing a bill for each to pay the exact amount petty
• Handshakes are often prolonged and it may be accompanied by a hug.
• Brazilian refers to business colleagues by their first names.
• Brazilians stand very close while speaking and do not apologize for bumping or brushing against another person.
• While speaking, Brazilians maintain steady eye contact.
• Brazilians are recognized as "poly-chronics" because they are described as late arrivers, allowed greater flexibility in defining early and late.
After the presentation of Brazil they present Chile about the change and organizations in that country they talk about the characteristics of a manager and then about the types of change, principles and importance, the approach and advantages or disadvantages of what it brings. They continue talking about organizational culture of Chile and as brazils presentation was really complete they include everything about a Chilean company a Chilean worker and excellent tips and characteristics we must take into account when doing business with Chileans

CORPORATE CULTURAL DIVERSITY

On the class august 11th, we define cultural diversity as the multiplicity and interaction of the cultures that coexist and participate in the cultural identity of the company. The culture depends on the values, traditions, customs that the culture implies. We discussed hard and polemic problms as bull runnings, and I obviously gave my opinion against it and in which ways it affect my, and how I hate it and I told it was against my moral and ethic beliefs, but I respect the people that like it, as the same way I respect other cultural beliefs. Even though I think of them as inmorals and without many values. After that we define polarization that it is a propention to think in a way that could be opposite to another. From its start, any strong cultural manifestation leads to an initial polarization; therefore it will bring preferential or discriminatory treatment.
Another definition we learned was the cultural added value; that is an extra or a plus value that is given to a product service and in this case a culture and it:
• Exceeds the market value
• These products are not only conusming product

The class ended with a video that clearly defines diversity, with de differences between commercial ads. And we analyze and difine Diversity appreciation that is based on respecting and enjoying the wide range of cultural and individual differences, it seeks to use the maximum pote.
After that, in order to understand these concepts we made a class activity that consist on analyze a group of people at their lunch time. My group and I, analyzed a really special and different group, they look like musicians not only because they where singing and had some drum sticks but also their appereance. We analyze them for 20 minutes and was really fun and interesting to understand how in one same cultue and specially in the same university can exist such diversity. When we return to the classroom all the class share their analisis and everybody seems to enjoy the activity.

Organizational culture.
On the class of august 4th we observe and analyze not only the culture in general but organizational cultural within all its characteristics and impacts in our society.First we start defining cultures as “a compound of habits, costums, behavior and many different ways to interact in order to have and identity”. In the world there are different cultures which interact within each other and nowadays international relations are one of the most important steps that a culture must have in order to participate and integrate with the world. The differences in cultures could be notorious and change a lot but this fact doesn’t make it better or worse. And acceptance and comprehension are essential. The generation of a culture is compound by the philosophy and founder that are the head and creators, then comes the selection of criteria that is basically what makes the difference between all cultures and define their specific beliefs and actions which is divided in top management and socialization that creates and follow some traditions, costumes, beliefs and ideas that finally form the organizational culture. All questions are bound to each other and differentiate each culture with another and give us a position and reflects who we are, what we do and why?
The subjective vision of the organizational culture can be seen by 5 different pints that gives us the right answers that better describes the culture.
1) Shared of assumptions: what we think? And all our actions are reflected on what we think
2) Shared values: what do we believe? Our beliefs are the base of the culture we belong to, that’s why it differentiate us between others and is what we follow
3) Shared meanings: how to interpret things? You can understand and have a different vision depending on the interpretation you give it, some things are just what it is but the way you saw it, is what makes the big difference.
4) Shared understandings: how we do things here? How we act? And why?
5) Shared corporate image: in which way are we seen? How are we perceived? Which is our position?

Organizational cultures are recognizing with some specific characteristics such as:
1) Members identity
2) Emphasis on group not people
3) Indirect focus on people
4) Integration of units: units work in a corporate and integrated manner
5) Control: a compact of clear and low impact.
6) Risk tolerance: permissiveness with employees- different according to the job
7) Reward criteria: salaries, benefits….
8) Emphasis ends or to means: the company focus its goals, or on its techniques or processes: everyone has a price
9) Open system approach: degree the organization interacts with the outside.

Analyzing and deeply looking to all its characteristics and the definition of a culture, we can clearly understand what a culture means to individual and gives the identity but always as a group, interacting and acting in a common way that will have impact among each member in the culture.

Evolution and effects of coorporatiom (documentary)

Years ago coorporation was saw as an insignificant institution, but this whole idea has change and nowadays coorporation is the dominant institution, which represents power and wealth in our society. At the beginning the role that the coorporation plays was as an assotiation of people who wants to perform an specific activity or objective and was created as a gift from people in order to help the public trust and so lawyers ask for coorporations to be called as a legal person who can interact within society activities as purchase, sale for example and also look for their rights.
Today coorporations are known as really powerfull monsters which can control the world and so their logo that is compare with an eagle because are competitive, magestic and have a great eye. Coorporations try to take over the world, and for them wealth and power is never enough. Coorporations have common purposes in which a group of people work together in order to obtain a final obejective that at the end will return profits for them.
They can be describe as really ambitius institutions, that sometimes doesn’t care about anything or anyone in order to obtain their objective. Even though individuals are the ones that work in the coorporation they work as a group and sometimes the coorporations have no moral conscius, and everything in matters of power is a difficulty for any common desition or action. There is a factor needed to be mentioned and is externality, which is the effect of a transaction. Each coorporation is marked by a different personality that can be diagnose, but this externality can be really harmfull and bought negative effects as harm to employees, the explotation of third world economy, effects on health and more. Comparing coorporation with the characteristics of a psycopath, they are really common between them.
Nowadys with all enviromental themes, this is a more sensible topic which can really affect our society and even though many of these coorporations have to pay for their actions, most of them are creating wealth to destroy not only the nature but also all species that are part of the world and today we are assuming the consequences as global warming.
